Burr problems can be approached at various stages from design to final processing. Four levels of burr minimization strategies are proposed. A case study is included to illustrate the application of these strategies. One of the approaches uses the Drilling Burr Expert System© developed at UC Berkeley in order to find optimal cutting conditions for burr minimization and to predict burr size for selected cutting conditions.
